What is a Data Dashboard?
A Data Dashboard is a visual tool that displays key metrics and data points in an easily digestible format. It typically includes charts, graphs, and tables that provide a real-time overview of various data sets. In the context of K-12 school districts, a Data Dashboard can be incredibly useful for several reasons:
- Monitoring Student Performance: Educators can track student progress and identify areas where students may need additional support. For example, the dashboard can display test scores, grades, and standardized assessment results.
- Attendance Data: Information on student attendance, including absences and tardiness, can help identify patterns and address issues related to student engagement and participation. For instance, the dashboard can show daily attendance rates and highlight students with frequent absences.
- Behavioral Data: This includes records of disciplinary actions, behavior incidents, and positive behavior interventions. It can help monitor student behavior and implement effective behavior management strategies. An example could be a chart showing the number of behavior incidents per month.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that supports educators in identifying students' academic and behavioral needs and creating a personalized plan for intervention or enrichment when needed. Taking a “Whole child” approach to learning, MTSS examines all the data that could factor into the student's success in school. Through early Diagnostic Assessments (both academic and social-emotional), educators can pinpoint those needs, create individualized goals, and provide ongoing intervention/ enrichment during progress monitoring for effectiveness.
