Renaissance STAR - Custom

Renaissance Star logo *Instructional software purchased through the LHRIC includes a professional service from our experienced staff.

About this Service

Renaissance's STAR Custom is the most important advancement in formative assessment in years. It allows you to create customized assessments more efficiently in several ways: author your own items that are tailor-made for your subject or class; input past paper-and-pencil tests; or access a growing number of built-in, high-quality assessment items in math, English language arts, and science. All items and tests can be saved for future use, as well as shared with your learning community peers. STAR Custom also integrates with Core Progress learning progressions for math and reading to help focus your instruction where it's needed most.

As part of the formative assessment process, once a student completes a STAR Custom assessment, the software provides you with a variety of reports for data interpretation. These reports give you the confidence to determine each student's progress on specific skills. STAR Custom also keeps students engaged by allowing them to monitor their test results, so they can focus their subsequent efforts on the skills that still need work. This results in continuous learning.

STAR Custom's built-in item types include technology enhanced, multiple choice, extended response, constructed response, and more. Using STAR Custom, you'll also have the ability to create your own test items, including embedding of multimedia links that enliven assessment for the student. You gain immediate feedback once students have completed a STAR Custom test. This feedback is specific to students' performance on specific items that have been aligned to skills.
